Finance ::..
The School System maintains a sound financial operation. More than 70% of System funding goes to classroom instruction. The School Board also sets aside a prudent reserve each year to provide for economic uncertainties and to maintain good bond ratings, which allow taxpayer dollars to be used more economically.
The General Fund operating budget for the School System is approximately $336 million. The System is supported by local, state and federal funds. St. Tammany residents provide local financial support through sales and property taxes. These funds provide for general operations, including instructional programs, employee wages and benefits, maintenance and operating expenses, capital improvements and debt service.
