Unit Description In this
theme, students will learn about the process of self discovery and facing
challenges. They will read and listen
about young people who discover their strengths and abilities while growing
up. Students will be encouraged to
look within themselves and examine their own unique attributes. Through this
unit students will recognize cause and effect relationship, paraphrase and
summarize events make inferences, draw conclusions and make judgments, answer
both literal and inferential questions, compare and contrast, identify character
traits, plot story elements, and sequence events. Writing instruction will
focus on narrative writing with editing and revising. Students will recognize
the types of sentences, supply correct ending punctuation, identify synonyms,
decode idioms within a given text, and identify complete and simple subjects
and predicates in a given text. Vocabulary instruction will focus on
developed word lists, dictionary skills, and contextual clues. |
