Support Employees of the Year Recognition Program
Each year a support employee is chosen for recognition from each school, and from these the School District chooses one for each of three grade ranges, and one for a Non-School Division. These individuals are honored for their outstanding performance in helping provide essential services in the day-to-day operation of the School System.
In naming the Support Employee of the Year, the School System recognizes the professional contributions, capabilities, and dedication that support employees bring to their assigned job responsibilities.
2008-2009 Support Employees of the Year
Four outstanding support employees were chosen from throughout the School System in the Spring of 2009. They are, pictured from left, Susie Blackwell, a library paraprofessional at Mandeville Junior High who won the Middle/Junior High Division; Carlye Lightfoot, a para-educator at Bayou Woods Elementary School who is the Elementary Division winner; Maria Peters, a special education paraprofessional in the reduced numbers classroom at Mandeville High School, the High School Division winner; and Brenda Palmer, a special education evaluator for Slidell Pupil Appraisal, who is the Non-School Division winner. At the May School Board meeting, the four were introduced by Senior Administrative Supervisor Bill Brady, who presented them with their awards. He commended them for contributing to the educational mission of the School System in a positive way.
